Ms. McKay frequently performs on NPRs Mountain Stage and on Garrison Keillors A Prairie Home Companion. Her songs have been featured on numerous TV shows, including Mad Men, Weeds, Greys Anatomy, NCIS and Boardwalk Empire. She also wrote the original music for the Rob Reiner film Rumor Has It and the Emmy-winning documentary Gasland. Ms. McKays most recent recording, My Weekly Reader, is a collection of classic pop tunes from the 1960s, which the New York Times calls a tour de force from a sly, articulate musician who sounds comfortable in any era. The range of material is widefrom the Beatles If I Fell to Frank Zappas Hungry Freaks, Daddy.
In addition to recording six full-length albums, Ms. McKay has also won a Theatre World Award for her portrayal of Polly Peachum in the Broadway production of The Threepenny Opera and performed onscreen in the films PS I Love You and Downtown Express. She recently completed an extended run in the award-winning off-Broadway hit Old Hats.
