On September 8, 2013, at approximately1:00 a.m.a female was the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in a vehicle in parking field #2 adjacent to the University Center. The Garden City Police and Nassau County Special Victims Unit are currently investigating.

1- Male Black, 56, 140 lbs, black hair, dark shirt and jeans
2- Male Black, 59, 130 lbs, short brown hair, white or grey shirt and sneakers.

- Use the buddy system, dont walk alone especially at night.
- While on a date, if you become involved in a sexual interaction that makes you uncomfortable, trust your instincts and get out of the situation.
- Before accepting a blind date, be sure that you can trust the individual making the arrangements. Meet in a public place.
- Be cautious when giving out personal information to new friends.
- Acquaintance rape can result from poor communication. Say no when you mean no, and yes when you mean, yes. Set clear limits.
- Incidents of acquaintance rape are frequently related to the use of alcohol and drugs. Use alcohol responsibly and use extreme caution in social situations where alcohol and drugs are used.
- Be sure to carry enough money for transportation home.
- Dont resist a robbery attempt.
- Dont leave your door open or unlocked for any period of time.
- Dont enter a strangers vehicle.
- Dont leave your drink or food unattended.
- Dont allow any individual into your apartment or building if you do not know who they are.
- Keep your doors locked at all times.
- Do not enter or remain with a stranger in an elevator if you feel unsafe.
