How our political science alumni are making an impact.
Samantha Flores ’11Ìýis completing her final year of law school at New YorkÌýLaw School and plans to graduate this comingÌýMay. She is looking forward to tackling theÌýBar exam in July and seeing what her futureÌýin the legal profession has in store.
Philip DiSanto ’12Ìýwas electedÌýto the 91³Ô¹ÏÍø Board of Trustees toÌýserve on its Academic Affairs Committee and the Student Life Committee. Mr. DiSanto isÌýcurrently in his first year at Columbia LawÌýSchool. Phil will be interning with the NewÌýYork State Attorney General’s office in Mineola this summer.
Hillary Frisbie ’06Ìýwas a doubleÌýmajor with Communications and PoliticalÌýScience. She is a Facility Management andÌýCapital Project Coordinator at Henry StreetÌýSettlement, a social service and cultural iconÌýon the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Current projects include renovation and restoration ofÌýthe historic landmarked facility at 265 HenryÌýStreet. Hillary currently holds a Masters inÌýArts in Cultural Management (Pratt Class ofÌý2012) and is pursuing a Master of Science inÌýFacility Management (Pratt 2014) with a focusÌýon historical sustainability. Hillary recentlyÌýpresented about sustainable project develop-ment at the Second International Facility andÌýReal Estate Management conference inÌýKufstein, Austria. Much to the disappointmentÌýof Professor Levy, Hillary was unable to takeÌýthe Sound of Music Tour while there.
David Fuller ’06Ìýcontinues asÌýVice President of Development and Government Affairs at Astonish Media Group, a public relations and creative media consultantÌýfirm. He also does fundraising and grantÌýwriting consulting on the side for the BarlettÌýArboretum and Gardens in Stamford and forÌýthe Stratford Center for the Arts. He is nearing the end of his Masters in CommunicationsÌýat Fairfield University.
Ìýis currentlyÌýworking with Brooklyn Jubilee, a ChristianÌýpromoting peace and prosperity for all ofÌýBrooklyn by creating and nurturing programsÌýfor social and economic justice. She works inÌýtheir Legal Services Division as the disasterÌýrelief staff attorney. She was hired about aÌýmonth and a half after Hurricane Sandy. SheÌýworks out in Coney Island, meeting local residents and helping them to walk through theÌý“FEMA Jungle” and helping with other non-disaster related issues such as housing, unemployment benefits, public assistance, etc.ÌýChantal was also recently recognized as a “” alumna through the Office of AlumniÌýAffairs . Chantal will be on campus speaking on aÌýpanel on April 23 called “Finding YourÌýNiche.”
Emmanuel Hector ’10ÌýfinishedÌýhis Master’s degree in climate science andÌýpolicy at Columbia University. Currently at NewÌýYork Life Insurance Company, EmmanuelÌýhelps clients achieve their long-term financialÌýgoals while protecting their loved ones and/orÌýbusinesses via insurance, annuity, and otherÌýfinancial products and services. Nikki Kateman ’10Ìýis entering herÌýthird year working full-time in the Political & Communications Department of Local 338ÌýRWDSU/UFCW. Recently she has been working on advocacy issues such as increasingÌýboth the state and federal minimum wage andÌýimmigration reform. Nikki is also in the processÌýof joining the Advisory Board of the Long IslandÌýProgressive Coalition.
Natu Kure ’12Ìýcontinues to workÌýat the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to theÌýUnited Nations, working with the forth committee (Special Committee on Politics and Decolonization and Peacekeeping). She is responsibleÌýfor writing reports for every meeting and theÌýfinal report that is forwarded to the NigerianÌýMinistry of Foreign Affairs. (Sometimes, theÌýinterns are encouraged to write draft of statements, then the officers work on the final statement.)
Allen Louissaint ’09ÌýrecentlyÌýcompleted working full-time as a 7th gradeÌýHistory teacher as a leave replacement atÌýNorth Shore Middle School in Glen Head, LongÌýIsland. Allen is grateful for the opportunity andÌýgrew professionally due to the different responsibilities inside and outside of the classroom.
Boris Manakhimov ’11ÌýcurrentlyÌýworks as the Corporate Technology RecruiterÌýwith Computer Generated Solutions, Inc. HisÌýresponsibilities include identifying, interviewing, and qualifying IT professionals for internalÌýpositions. In his spare time he volunteers withÌýJunior Achievement of New York, running theirÌýAlumni group on LinkedIn, and helps the PiÌýLambda Phi Educational Foundation in theirÌýrecruiting efforts for board members and trustees.
John Miller ’12Ìýis currently in hisÌýfirst year at Harvard Law School. He is becoming involved with the Harvard MediationÌýProgram, which provides free mediation services to local small claims court disputes during the academic year.
Nick Tomasso ’11Ìýis currently aÌýlong-term substitute teacher at East RockawayÌýMiddle School. He has been accepted toÌýTeach For America beginning in the 2013-2014 school year. Nick will be teaching SpecialÌýEducation for the Chicago Public School system.
Adaeze Udoji ’08ÌýAdaeze is transitioningÌýout of her current position as an Attorney Investigator at the New Jersey Attorney General’s office and into a new role in the LegalÌýand Compliance Division of American Express.ÌýOutside of work, Adaeze remains involved withÌýthe Cardozo Law School’s Black Asian andÌýLatino Law Students Alumni Association asÌýSecretary, where she assists with scholarshipÌýfundraising and programming to prepare students for the transition from law student toÌýlawyer. Adaeze currently resides in New Jersey, although she not-so-secretly pines to beÌýable to move back to New York somedayÌýsoon.
Andrew Zang ’10Ìýfinished his Master ofÌýLaws in real estate law, a post doctorate advanced law degree. He works as a corporateÌýreal estate advisor at Studley, Inc., and specializes in the representation of tenants inÌýregards to their corporate real estate portfolio.ÌýHe lives in New York City and has found a trueÌýpassion for the field of real estate.
