Through her many experiences Olivia Autry is well prepared for the next stage of her career.
Tackling her academic studies is not the only thing OliviaAutry will be working on this year.
The accounting major and Spanish minor in the continues to excel inside and outside theclassroom. A member of several campus organizationsand committees, including the Accounting Society, Voicesof Inspirational Praise gospel choir and Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow, she is co-captain of the AU Paws StepTeam and also serves on the Robert B. Willumstad Schoolof Business Student Advisory Board and the StudentTechnological Advisory Committee.
In June 2012, Ms. Autry took two courses—ConversationalSpanish and Traditional Sevillano Dance—during anenriching study abroad experience in Seville, Spain,where she lived with a family who helped improve herSpanish speaking and comprehension skills and whogave her a deeper understanding and appreciation forSevillian culture.
“Make it a priority to take every opportunity given to you,”Ms. Autry offered as advice for Adelphi students. “Learnto make the most of even the smallest of experiences, suchas a boat tour, along the way.”
In addition to her course work and extracurricularinvolvement, she is also a resident computer associate inthe Office of Information Technology, where she conductsworkshops for students and faculty and facilitatesnumerous training sessions for new student employees.
Meanwhile, the Center for Career Development has beena major stepping stone in her path to career success.

Ms. Autry has participated in and attended the center’s events,such as LinkedIn workshops, the annual Job and Internship Expoand the Student Worker Training Seminar. Three programs, inparticular, propelled Ms. Autry forward: the Alumni Mentoringprogram, the Community Fellows Programand the Accounting On-Campus Recruitmentprogram.
Through Alumni Mentoring, she secureda mentor in her field of study, TomislavKostadinov ‘10, who was workingat Schwartz & Company, LLP, and iscurrently employed at Goldman Sachs.Mr. Kostadinov has been an asset inhelping her narrow down her careerchoices and he has offered invaluableadvice. Despite a busy schedule, Mr.Kostadinov has met with Ms. Autry andchecks on her progress. And they havebecome friends along the way.
Selected as a Community Fellow, Ms. Autry worked as abusiness consultant intern at the Cedarmore Corporation,which reinforced her passion for business and accountingby teaching these subjects to high school students. Nowan ambassador for the Community Fellows Program, shespeaks with prospective students about her experiencesand also participates in panel discussions to promote theprogram.
Participating in the On-Campus Recruitment programwas the latest chapter in her career development process.Through the program, she secured a summer internshipin the audit department of Grant Thornton LLP, as wellas position in the Deloitte Mentor Program. At GrantThornton, she performed many of the same functions asa first-year associate and participated in office enrichmentactivities. At Deloitte, she was assigned a mentor to aid in hergrowth process and participated in career-building activities.
Through her many experiences, she is well prepared forthe next stage of her career.
