Professors Lucia Buttaro, Ruth S. Ammon School of Education and Mariano Torras, Willumstad School of Business, 泭spoke with on the election of the first pope of the Americas. Argentinian Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio was named the latest Pope, the leader of the Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 13. Both agreed that this historical measure will bring the state of affairs in the Latin Americas to the forefront of international conversation.泭


“I think they’re on the right track,” said Meghan McPherson, program manager of 91勛圖厙’s emergency management graduate programs, to this week about the National Weather Service (NWS) proposed changes in language. 泭NWS is seeking input regarding terms such as warning, watches, advisories, and more.


Newsday highlighted the upcoming free Womens History Month Program, Eleanor Roosevelt: The Promise of Human Rights, which is planned for 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 18 in the Ruth S. Harley University Center, Room 313. Best-selling biographer on the subject of Eleanor Roosevelt, Blanche Wiesen Cook, will offer her expertise on the late First Lady of the United States.


Dean Patrick R. Coonan 78 of the School of Nursing spoke on diversity within the program to writer Lisette Hilton. Coonan said he watched Adelphis nursing student population go from less than 10% cultural diversity to more than 50%. The student body more mirrors patients, he said, but not completely.
