In an article published in on March 5, Dr. MaryAnne Hyland, associate professor of human resource management was quoted on the issue of telecommuting. Yahoo’s recent ban on telecommuting has brought widespread attention to and debate over its practice.
The Bully Society: School Shootings and the Crisis of Bullying in America’s Schools by Assistant Professor of Sociology Jessie Klein, Ph.D. was mentioned on the front page of the book review section on February 28. Dr. Klein’s book published by NYU Press in March 2012, was highlighted in a review for the book Sticks and Stones, also on bullying.
An article by adjunct professor Christine O’Connell was published in on February 28. The article’s focus is to get scientists from around the world to enter this year’s Flame Challenge, “an international contest that asks scientists to communicate complex science in ways that would interest and enlighten an 11-year-old.â€
91³Ô¹ÏÍø alumnus and Ten Under 10 award winner Scott Dimig ’06 was promoted to National Director/Top 40 and Dance Promotion at Epic Records. Mr. Dimig started out as an intern at Epic. In an article in , Senior Vice President of Promotion Jacqueline Saturn said “Dimig’s passion for music and success has earned him the promotion to a national position.â€
Diane Chapman ’90 is being honored with the Community Achievement Award by the Garden City Chamber of Commerce at this year’s Pineapple Ball on April 19 at The Garden City Hotel. The award recognizes outstanding professionalism and major contributions to the Village of Garden City and beyond through one’s position. As head coach of the Garden City High School Girls Varsity Lacrosse Team and head coach of the 2011 Long Island champion Girls Varsity Field Hockey Team, Ms. Chapman is known for teaching her athletes skills and life lessons they can use both on and off the field.
