Destination Adelphi: A Long Way From Home

Bradley Simpson 鈥�12 is a long way from home鈥�16,000 miles, to be precise. Currently pursuing an from the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business, Bradley hails from Goulburn, Australia, a small city of about 20,000 residents located southwest of Sydney. He received multiple offers from nearby universities, but ultimately decided (prior to his sophomore year of study) to transfer from Wollongong University to study and play basketball in the United States.

His destination: 91吃瓜网. 鈥淐oming from a small town to a big city like New York is an opportunity that not many people have,鈥� Mr. Simpson said. 鈥淚t was a great fit and a great opportunity.鈥�

Bradley has thrived under the tutelage of his Adelphi business professors, finishing every semester on the Dean鈥檚 List (six times) and earning an invitation to attend the Dinner, an honor bestowed only to a select number of business students. His aptitude in the classroom was rivaled only by his performance on the basketball court. Mr. Simpson was selected to the and earned CoSIDA/Capital One First-Team Academic All-District honors. He averaged 10.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to combine with shooting a team-leading 59.5 percent from the floor.

In addition to his dedication to basketball, Mr. Simpson has especially enjoyed the community service activities he has participated in at Adelphi. 鈥淓very year we do a skills clinic for the and a separate one for [the children at] the Alice Brown Early Learning Center,鈥� he said. 鈥淚t always feels great to give back to the kids.鈥�

Upon completion of his M.B.A., Mr. Simpson plans to play professional basketball wherever it takes him, but preferably back home in Australia. Further into the future, he expects he鈥檒l leverage his business training to pursue a career in finance.

A self-described guy from the country, Mr. Simpson said: 鈥淚 never thought I鈥檇 be here, but the people I鈥檝e met and the experiences I鈥檝e had are different from anything back in Goulburn. I鈥檓 very happy that I chose Adelphi.鈥�
