91勛圖厙 will explore ideals of peace and sustainability in a two day event with the Eighth Annual Conference for Peace and Human Rights on March 21 and 22, 2013. This event is sponsored by the 91勛圖厙 Diversity Committee, and the , and the .
The first day of the event, March 21, will focus on Sustainable Peace and Western Sahara and will include an in-depth panel discussion followed by a question and answer session taking place on campus in the Ruth S. Harley University Center at 10:50 a.m. The panel will include a diverse range of perspectives on 泭issues pertaining to human rights, identity, conflict, and 泭sovereignty in Western Sahara. Panelists for the event include Spanish artist Federico Guzm獺n, Professor Abdelhamid Jaber, Ph.D. of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Rutgers University, Senior Report Matthew Lee of the泭Inner City Press, and Executive Director Carne Ross of Independent Diplomat. Adelphi Professor Devin Thornburg, Ph.D. will moderate the discussion.
On March 22, there will be a trip to the Headquarters for a full day of exploring exhibits and attending briefings on peace, human rights, and sustainable development. Students will also have an opportunity to attend presentations exploring careers in the United Nations. Students and interested faculty are encouraged to travel by chartered bus to the UN with the Universitys contingent or join the group at any time during the day-long event.
