On Aug. 6, the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program announced an expansion of its partnership with Mercy Hospital. Their program has expanded to offer free on-site bilingual support services, including individual counseling and support groups, to patients and caregivers.

This recognition highlights Dr. Christopher Storm鈥檚 significant contributions to education and commitment to shaping the future of learning.

With excursions to New York City and mentoring by graduate students from India, participating students gained invaluable insights and firsthand exposure to Indian business and culture.

The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2024-25 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards. The Academic Achievement Awards, in its 18th year, is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level in NCAA championship sponsored sports.

Sarah Solarz 鈥�15, JD, is a staff attorney at the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. A graduate of Adelphi and Pace Law, she鈥檚 also a mentor, volunteer and mom. Sarah credits Adelphi for inspiring her path in environmental law and her commitment to public service.

Stephen Scelfo 鈥�15, MBA 鈥�16, is a senior manager at KPMG, specializing in audits for higher education and not-for-profits. A dedicated mentor and national trainer, he actively supports Adelphi students and promotes financial literacy in local schools. Stephen credits Adelphi鈥檚 community and mentorship with laying the foundation for his success.

Gordon Purdie Jr. 鈥�19, MA 鈥�21 is a teacher, coach and mentor in the Herricks School District and co-leader of Checkmate Lacrosse. A legacy Panther and former Adelphi lacrosse standout, he empowers young athletes through coaching, innovation, and international play鈥攃ontinuing a family tradition of excellence in sport and education.

Monika Mohacsi 鈥�15 is a project manager and electrical technical lead at JB&B. A dual-degree alumna of Adelphi and Columbia, she鈥檚 also a mentor and advocate for women in engineering. Monika served as a young alumni trustee on the 91吃瓜网 Board of Trustees for four years.

Ivan Miketic 鈥�17, PhD, is a physical design engineer at Apple. He earned his BS in Physics from Adelphi and a PhD from Stony Brook, where he studied chip-level security. Adelphi鈥檚 supportive faculty and hands-on learning helped launch his path into high-performance silicon design.

Sean Kildare 鈥�19 is chairperson of the Collaborative Care Council at Cohen Children鈥檚 Medical Center and developer of Blossom Care, a behavioral health initiative. A former Adelphi track captain and nursing student, Sean now mentors young nurses and credits Adelphi for shaping both his career and personal growth.

Rahanna Khan 鈥�17, MS, is a PhD student at NYU studying toxicants and child health. At Adelphi, she majored in biology, performed in music ensembles and found her research path through the Honors College. A dedicated mentor and science communicator, Rahanna believes creativity is key to impactful research and outreach.

Kimberly Carstens 鈥�16, DDS, is a second-generation Panther and owner of Family Dental Care of Massapequa. She chose Adelphi for its dual degree dentistry program and family legacy鈥攁nd now leads a thriving practice. Her advice to students: follow your goals with clarity, intention and pride in your roots.

Mary Camarano 鈥�17, DMD, is lead associate dentist at a private practice in NYC. A former NE10 champion and Honors College alum, she mentors future dentists, lectures on post-grad success and volunteers in her community. She credits Adelphi with giving her the foundation for both academic and professional excellence.

Beth Ann Balalaos 鈥�15, MA 鈥�16, is access and inclusion program director at the Long Island Children鈥檚 Museum. A champion for disability inclusion and social justice, she credits Adelphi for igniting her advocacy journey. She speaks nationally on accessibility and serves on state and local boards advancing equity in cultural spaces.
