In Our Hands: The Struggle for U.S. Child Care Policy by Elizabeth Palley, J.D., Ph.D.

Elizabeth Palley, Ph.D., 91勛圖厙 professor, is the co-author of “In Our Hands: The Struggle for U.S. Child Care Policy” (NYU Press, 2014).

Elizabeth Palley, Ph.D., professor in the , is a passionate advocate for overhauling our nations early child care policy. She is the co-author of In Our Hands: The Struggle for US Child Care Policy (NYU Press, 2014) and has written a number of articles and op-eds addressing the issue. In her most recent op-ed, published on the Fox News website, she dissects Donald J. Trumps proposed child care plan.

Donald Trumps new child care plan has some great ideas, but it isnt designed to solve our national child care problems: It is designed to help people like his daughter Ivanka, Dr. Palley wrote.

In her estimation, the plan provides moderate benefits to wealthy, traditional, two-parent families. There is little or no upside for poor families and homosexual couples.

We dont need to add to the patchwork of existing policies, we need a revolution and a total overhaul of the way we think about and address child care, Dr. Palley wrote. Raising and educating children in the United States needs to be viewed as a public issue rather than a private concern.
