The department hopes that In the Directors Cut will evolve into an泭international workshop that brings young international artists to Adelphi to泭work along with local students. I think the program is a great opportunity泭for Adelphi to train young artists in new media, says Ross. It will contribute泭to the evolution of the form, and arm this new generation with the ability to泭say, shout, or sing whatever they want via the options of new media.泭The goal of my work is to have students hone their post-production skills泭with the goal of creating a short piece and then promoting that piece through泭social media, says Shaheen.
Ross is pioneering yet another digital humanities project that he calls泭Shared Roots. In simplistic terms it will be a social networking site for泭ancestors, he says. People will post the oldest photo they have of a relative泭and then take on the persona of that relative to tell their story. Students as泭their relative will interact with other students in a similar role. Ross has more泭ambitious plans for this initiative, with Adelphi student-relatives interacting泭with students in foreign countries acting in a similar role. Ross expects the site泭to be assembled in the coming months.
