When Adelphi students come together for the annual at Garden City’s , magic happens.

This year’s event was held on February 21 in the JetBlue Sky Theater Planetarium, integrating live music with otherworldly visuals. Using cutting-edge data visualization software, physics majors created eight original movies showcasing human exploration in space, which were screened with a mix of originals, covers and improvisational pieces performed by Adelphi student musicians. The collaboration encouraged students to view their disciplines in a new light, as part of a broader set of intellectual possibilities rather than one solitary field.

This isn’t Adelphi’s only STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) initiative—in 2016, the University opened a (Harvey Hall Room 104), which is a DIY “community makerspace” that transforms the way students learn. The College of Arts and Sciences and the Ruth S. Ammon School of Education are currently developing a for K-12 students.
