Trees across Long Island are forming and dropping an abundance of acorns. Many people aren’t taking too kindly to the onslaught—either finding them a nuisance on the ground or fearing getting pelted by them.Ìý

CBS News New York turned to 91³Ô¹ÏÍø for input on the matter. Our arboretum of a campus has seen a particularly heavy downpour.Ìý

“These things are hard!” Adelphi junior Jordan Garofalo told CBS. Alexander Heyl, Ph.D., assistant professor of biology, explained the possible causes of the over-production of acorns, but assured viewers that they aren’t likely to cause injuries.Ìý
