Noteworthy happenings from the Department of Communications.
Our own resident filmmaker and teacher par听excellence, Professor Joan Stein, has had her听screenplay chosen for the prestigious Hamptons听International Film Festival听Screenwriter’s Lab. The national event, April 12-14, is highly competitive, bringing in select film听writers from across the country to work with听established screenwriters and producers with听the prospect of taking scripts into production.听Prof. Stein is best known for her Academy听Award nominated film, One Day Crossing.
The department is proud to announce the听release of Prof. Peter Costello鈥檚 new book听scheduled for May 13. Attachment鈥揃ased听Psychotherapy: Helping Patients Develop听Adaptive Capacities, will be published by the听American Psychological Association Press. Prof.听Costello is currently working on a second book听focused on interpersonal relations.

Prof. Mark Grabowski presents his work at a听conference in Prague this summer addressing听ethical concerns in cyberspace…Prof. Tom听Campbell will be co-teaching an independent听documentary production class in Cameroon,听West Africa this summer…Kim Pratt, Jessi听Shaheen, CathyBoyd, Terry Woods, and Ann听Terry鈥檚 creative art work brought in funds for听Creative Cups, which goes toward Adelphi鈥檚听breast cancer support line…Kim Pratt and听Ann Terry continue with plans for the Media听Lab major upgrade scheduled for May.
We welcome the newest member into our听department 鈥� Isabel Sage. Yes, Prof. Anna听Akerman and hubby Daniel Berman鈥檚 new听baby daughter! Prof. Akerman will return from听leave in September with added insight, we听expect, into her class, Media and Children.
