Noteworthy happenings from the Department of Communications.

Our own resident filmmaker and teacher parÌýexcellence, Professor Joan Stein, has had herÌýscreenplay chosen for the prestigious HamptonsÌýInternational Film FestivalÌýScreenwriter’s Lab. The national event, April 12-14, is highly competitive, bringing in select filmÌýwriters from across the country to work withÌýestablished screenwriters and producers withÌýthe prospect of taking scripts into production.ÌýProf. Stein is best known for her AcademyÌýAward nominated film, One Day Crossing.
The department is proud to announce theÌýrelease of Prof. Peter Costello’s new bookÌýscheduled for May 13. Attachment–BasedÌýPsychotherapy: Helping Patients DevelopÌýAdaptive Capacities, will be published by theÌýAmerican Psychological Association Press. Prof.ÌýCostello is currently working on a second bookÌýfocused on interpersonal relations.

We welcome the newest member into ourÌýdepartment — Isabel Sage. Yes, Prof. AnnaÌýAkerman and hubby Daniel Berman’s newÌýbaby daughter! Prof. Akerman will return fromÌýleave in September with added insight, weÌýexpect, into her class, Media and Children.
