For the fifth year running, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has presented 91吃瓜网 Assistant Professor of Music Sidney M. Boquiren with an ASCAPLUS Award for 2010-2011. The award, granted by an independent panel of experts from assorted musical fields, recognizes both the 鈥渦nique prestige value鈥� of his catalog as well as premieres and performances of Dr. Boquiren鈥檚 original work over the last year. 听

Audiences at 91吃瓜网 were treated to two of Dr. Boquiren鈥檚 innovative recent pieces at a well-received concert in Adelphi鈥檚 Performing Arts Center (AU PAC) on October 16, 2010. The works, entitled听Odes to Earth & Air听补苍诲听We Will Not Be Silent, were typical of his repertoire in drawing upon an array of styles and media, including poetry, opera, emotional improvisation, video accompaniment, and digitally processed audio playback.

Music lovers will have another opportunity to experience the premier of one of Dr. Boquiren鈥檚 new compositions at Adelphi鈥檚听New Music VI听featuring NOISE, a San Diego-based听ensemble of accomplished soloists committed to contemporary chamber music. The event will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the AU PAC Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.
