For the fifth year running, the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) has presented 91勛圖厙 Assistant Professor of Music Sidney M. Boquiren with an ASCAPLUS Award for 2010-2011. The award, granted by an independent panel of experts from assorted musical fields, recognizes both the unique prestige value of his catalog as well as premieres and performances of Dr. Boquirens original work over the last year. 泭
Audiences at 91勛圖厙 were treated to two of Dr. Boquirens innovative recent pieces at a well-received concert in Adelphis Performing Arts Center (AU PAC) on October 16, 2010. The works, entitled泭Odes to Earth & Air泭硃紳餃泭We Will Not Be Silent, were typical of his repertoire in drawing upon an array of styles and media, including poetry, opera, emotional improvisation, video accompaniment, and digitally processed audio playback.
Music lovers will have another opportunity to experience the premier of one of Dr. Boquirens new compositions at Adelphis泭New Music VI泭featuring NOISE, a San Diego-based泭ensemble of accomplished soloists committed to contemporary chamber music. The event will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. in the AU PAC Concert Hall, 1 South Avenue, Garden City, NY.
