The 91吃瓜网 College of Nursing and Public Health is proud to announce the accreditation of its Clinical Education and Simulation Lab (CESiL) by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH).
Adelphi’s CESiL is the only lab on Long Island of its kind to receive this prestigious status in Teaching and Education. Housed in Adelphi鈥檚 modern Nexus Building, the CESiL is a 22-bed, fully immersive, high-tech simulation environment that empowers students with hands-on clinical experience.
The lab features seven clinical exam rooms, a delivery suite, a pediatric space and a simulated home-care setting. This advanced facility gives students in Adelphi’s College of Nursing and Public Health the opportunity to practice critical decision-making and clinical skills in a realistic, risk-free setting鈥攑reparing them to meet today鈥檚 complex healthcare challenges head-on.
鈥淭his accreditation has been a three-year goal, with years of preparation. It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Adelphi鈥檚 faculty, administrators, students and CESiL staff to have achieved this distinction,鈥� said Anthony Egan, RN, MS, CHSE, director of CESiL. 鈥淚t reinforces Adelphi鈥檚 leadership in innovative healthcare education and our commitment to ensuring students graduate confident and career-ready.鈥�
To earn SSH accreditation, Adelphi underwent a comprehensive evaluation that included interviews with senior University leadership, faculty and students, detailed documentation of simulation standards and outcomes, and a formal site visit. In addition, Adelphi was required to participate in activities to demonstrate a commitment to simulation-based education, including participation in Healthcare Simulation Week. 鈥淪im Wars,鈥� another interactive clinical simulation event held during the recent Adelphi Nurses Week in May, showcased students鈥� clinical judgment, teamwork and communication skills.
Strategic Response to the Nursing Shortage
Adelphi鈥檚 investment in simulation-based learning is part of its strategic response to New York state鈥檚 critical nursing shortage鈥攁 challenge that threatens the quality and accessibility of healthcare statewide. Traditional clinical placements are increasingly limited, and simulation training is emerging as an essential and scalable alternative.
鈥淎s the demand for healthcare services continues to grow, simulation-based learning is helping to fill the clinical gap while maintaining high educational standards,鈥� said Deborah Hunt, PhD ’12, dean of the College of Nursing and Public Health, which is the largest nursing program in New York. 鈥淎delphi鈥檚 approach aligns with new state policies that recognize simulation as a valuable component of nursing education.鈥� A prominent voice in nursing policy, Dr. Hunt played a key role in shaping these changes through her advocacy with the and the .
Accelerating Pathways to the Profession
To further strengthen the pipeline of qualified nurses, Adelphi offers an Accelerated BS in Nursing program that prepares students to become registered nurses in just 15 months. In Fall 2026, this intensive program will expand to Adelphi鈥檚 new Manhattan Center at 529 Fifth Avenue鈥攂ringing opportunity to more aspiring nurses in the heart of New York City.
The Accelerated BSN joins Adelphi鈥檚 full suite of nursing programs鈥攆rom traditional undergraduate to 尘补蝉迟别谤鈥檚 and doctoral degrees鈥攄esigned to produce the next generation of compassionate, skilled and forward-thinking healthcare professionals.
