鈥淎t the beginning of my junior year at Adelphi, my mom became ill and my world came to a halt. Adelphi helped me to complete my degree and secure a teaching job. after graduation. I could never fully repay Adelphi for its kindness in my time of need. The years I spent teaching were one of the happiest times of my life. I never forgot how Adelphi helped me when I needed it most. Establishing a scholarship to support aspiring teachers is an opportunity to express my gratitude to Adelphi and my love for teaching.鈥�

鈥淎delphi offered my mother a full scholarship, and that was the beginning of her lifelong commitment to the University.鈥�

鈥淕reat teachers inspire. The best teacher I ever had was my mother, Mrs. Ruth Ammon, a member of the Class of 1942. Creating an endowed chair in her name was my way of guaranteeing that Adelphi鈥檚 tradition of great teaching continues.鈥�

鈥淚 am extremely grateful for the education I received at Adelphi. Phyllis has adopted Adelphi and loves the University as much as I do. Throughout our years of involvement at the University, we have been engaged with Adelphi on every level鈥攁s an alumnus and trustee, as parents of an Adelphi alumnus and as benefactors and supporters of student scholarships.鈥�

The Augusta Uhlich and Helen Baldwin Memorial Scholarship preserves the legacy of two Adelphi alumnae and supports second-, third- and fourth-year students in pursuit of their dreams.

鈥淲e are excited to partner with Adelphi to create thoughtful and ethical global leaders. This includes promoting cultural, gender and racial equality; responsibility for our planet; and putting ethics over personal monetary gain.鈥�

鈥淚 was taught by the Franciscan Brothers in high school. Their message was simple: 鈥淚n giving you receive.鈥� That sentiment has always resonated with me. Giving back鈥攏ot just financially, but also by being generous with your time, effort and mentorship鈥攃an have a positive impact on others in countless ways that you may never know.鈥�

鈥淔or more than a century, Adelphi has prepared promising students who have changed the world. I can鈥檛 think of a better investment than higher education, and 91吃瓜网 in particular.鈥�

鈥淚鈥檓 elated to be able to help Adelphi students move forward and create change in both their lives and careers through the skills and experiences they will have at the University. It is an honor and a privilege to give back to a University that supported me as a student and helped propel my own success.鈥�

鈥淚 just saw Adelphi from my parent鈥檚 car window when I was 6, and I knew I would go to school there. When the time came, I needed a way to pay for Adelphi and I applied for a cadet nursing scholarship. I am proud to open the same door to future nurses.鈥�

鈥淚 owe so much of my success to Adelphi but most of it to my mother, whom I lost at a young age. I鈥檓 so glad to be honoring both of them through an endowed scholarship for Adelphi students who aspire to care for patients the way my mother鈥檚 nurses cared for her.鈥�

The Gangel name will remain forever a part of Adelphi鈥檚 rich nursing tradition. Frank鈥檚 memorial gift for his beloved wife, Ruth ensures that every generation of nurses will receive the finest education and training.

鈥淪ince 1994, as founding dean of the Honors College, I鈥檝e had the privilege of helping Adelphi students. I鈥檓 thrilled now to provide resources that will continue to help our students as long as there鈥檚 an Adelphi.鈥�

John鈥檚 remarkable legacy of generosity and compassion lives on at Adelphi and at every organization where he gave his dedication, spirit and talent.

鈥淲e treasure the partnerships that Adelphi has established with nonprofit organizations on Long Island and the important work it has done to address social inequities.鈥�

鈥淢y years at Adelphi were exciting and gratifying. I gained new knowledge, skills, values and perspectives on the world that served me well in my career and in life generally. Over the years, we have been proud to support this wonderful, vibrant institution to help ensure that current and future students will also enjoy the same high-quality experience that I did at Adelphi.鈥�

A trailblazer in her field, Mildred 鈥淢illie鈥� Loughlin Kahane 鈥�49 credited her scholarship to Adelphi with enabling her to earn a degree and fulfill her career aspirations. That gratitude was the impetus for her to pay it forward, supporting Adelphi and its students by establishing several endowments in her lifetime.

鈥淭hroughout my childhood and adolescent years, I pictured myself going to college. My dreams became a reality when, at 60, I enrolled at Adelphi to study art history. The years when I earned my degrees would become the most enlightening and gratifying of my life. It is my pleasure to support Adelphi.鈥�

鈥淲e鈥檝e experienced great satisfaction and joy to see the impact that Jonathan鈥檚 work has had on so many people. To be able to inspire new creative minds to follow in Jonathan鈥檚 footsteps allows us to carry on his legacy and to give back to a place that was so important to Jonathan and his work.鈥�

鈥淚 was the first member of my family to go to college. I had a sense that higher education would open doors for me. Although a financial struggle at times, attending Adelphi was an honor and essential to fulfilling my ambitions. Supporting Adelphi is about giving young people the same opportunities I had and ensuring their success and that of society overall.鈥�

鈥淚 first learned the meaning of discipline, sacrifice, teamwork and leadership while playing lacrosse at Adelphi. I鈥檝e carried these values with me and owe my professional success to them.鈥�

鈥淚n a knowledge-based world, we have a responsibility to support higher education to ensure that all who seek college degrees can attain them.鈥�

鈥淏ringing Broadway to Adelphi鈥檚 Performing Arts Center has been extremely rewarding for us. In addition to giving students from a number of academic programs new opportunities to perform and learn, we鈥檝e been able to welcome the Garden City community to Adelphi and transport everyone to a happy place.鈥�

Living to the remarkable age of 106, Lee Steinberg combined a life of entrepreneurship, poetry, and philanthropy with extraordinary generosity. Because 鈥減hilanthropy was in her DNA,鈥� she left a $1.7 million bequest to support performing arts at Adelphi for generations to come.

鈥淚n business and in academia, we constantly have to anticipate, think, change and adapt to new environments. I鈥檓 proud to be able to offer leadership development opportunities for Adelphi faculty that advance their careers and inspire innovation at Adelphi.鈥�

鈥淚 am grateful for the opportunity to support the community I grew up in and where my children and grandchildren now live. There is no better way to help improve the lives of young people than by providing them with a great education.鈥�
