  {"id":29,"date":"2021-08-20T20:59:50","date_gmt":"2021-08-20T20:59:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/title-ix\/?page_id=29"},"modified":"2026-04-01T17:31:14","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T17:31:14","slug":"campus-climate-survey","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.adelphi.edu\/title-ix\/campus-climate-survey\/","title":{"rendered":"Campus Climate Survey"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In 2015, New York State\u2019s \u201cEnough is Enough\u201d (129-b) law was enacted to help foster an academic environment free from discrimination and violence. \u201cEnough is Enough\u201d established uniform guidelines and procedures to New York State Colleges to aid in combatting sexual violence and harassment and increasing student safety and awareness. To accomplish this, the law requires colleges and universities to conduct a \u201cCampus Climate Survey\u201d no less than every other year. The goal of the survey is to better understand what shapes the students\u2019 perceptions and experiences on campus and help University leadership identify strengths and areas for improvement to effectively respond to student concerns and help students to feel safe, welcomed, valued, and respected.<\/p>\n<p>In 2026, 91勛圖厙 administered its sixth Title IX Campus Climate Survey to approximately 6,962 eligible undergraduate and graduate students who were enrolled during the spring 2026 semester; 296 students completed the survey for a response rate of 4.2%. While this is a lower response rate than prior years, various factors were identified as potentially influencing the response rate including multiple surveys administered to students during the semester. The survey contained questions on the 11 topic areas required by New York State law. The accompanying results below are selected highlights from the most recent Survey conducted in 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>2026 Climate Survey Result Highlights<\/h2>\n<h3>Campus Resources<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Overall, a majority of students understood the Title IX Coordinator Role and the cases in which the Title IX Coordinator can offer assistance.<\/li>\n<li>Over 90% of respondents indicated that they understood the role of the Title IX Coordinator to handle cases involving dating violence, sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic violence, and stalking. These numbers are consistent with the responses from 2024 and 2022.<\/li>\n<li>94% of respondents were also aware that these incidents could be reported to the Title IX Coordinator, 92% were aware that these incidents could be reported to Public Safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Survivor Experience<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>In 2026, almost all respondents indicated they were not victims of domestic violence (99%) or dating violence (99%). The data showed that students mostly experienced sexual assault (5%) and stalking (9%).<\/li>\n<li>Of those who experienced sexual assault, 53% reported it to the University, an increase from 41% in 2024. 98% of respondents understood that they must obtain consent by words or action before engaging in any sexual activity. This is consistent with data from 2024 and 2022.<\/li>\n<li>Responses indicated 100% of students who reported a sexual assault were treated with respect (an increase of 58% from 2024) and 86% of respondents agreed that they were treated with sensitivity (an increase of 50% from 2024).<\/li>\n<li>Of those who experienced stalking, 27% reported to the University, an increase from 18% in 2024. 100% of students who reported stalking felt they were treated with respect, an increase from 76% in 2024.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Bystander Intervention<\/h3>\n<p>In 2026, Students who witnessed an incident of sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking at Adelphi were asked to share their level of intervention when witnessing the above incidents.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>40% of students responded that they stepped in to help.<\/li>\n<li>26% responded that they did not help because they did not know what to do.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Looking Ahead<\/h2>\n<p>The 2026 Campus Climate Survey was crafted to help identify students\u2019 experience with sexual violence and harassment on campus and to capture student\u2019s knowledge and experience with on-campus resources. By incorporating student voices, our office and campus partners can identify trends, and areas of additional need for education and training for students, faculty and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Education needs to be done around the awareness of these violations, University\u2019s policies and procedures (i.e. where to find them) as well as on and off-campus resources available to students.
