It has been that way since the Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology was founded in 1972 as the first university-based school of psychology in the United States. <\/span>Our faculty has long distinguished itself for its contributions to the field as well as for its commitment to inspiring students and preparing them to join the ranks of researchers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rethinking Adult Social Relationships<\/h3>\n

Associate Dean Katherine Fiori, PhD, Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, talks about her research, aimed at understanding how adults can best \u201clead a happy, healthy life.\u201d They need not just close family ties, she said, but also so-called \u201cweak ties\u201d that present stimulation and \u201cnovel opportunities\u201d for social interaction.<\/p>\n
