Interests and knowledge about issues in higher education are also considered. The maximum Council membership is 30 members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Members serve an initial three<\/span><span>-year term and may be appointed at any time during the year. The Council meets a minimum of three<\/span><span> times a year and meets either in Manhattan, Garden City <\/span><span>or virtually<\/span><span>. Meetings are held in the fall and spring academic semesters. The initial three<\/span><span>-year term is a calendar term, not dependent on how many meetings members attend.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"gold-headline\">Council Member Responsibilities<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Offer advice based on professional knowledge and leadership experience<\/li>\n<li>Attend signature University events<\/li>\n<li>Support the University in recommending prospective students<\/li>\n<li>Leverage corporate relationships for possible partnership opportunities<\/li>\n<li>Provide career service advice and mentoring to current students<\/li>\n<li>Identify internship opportunities for current students<\/li>\n<li>Support the University through philanthropy and service<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Council Members<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Liz Alicea-Velez \u201978 <\/strong><br \/>\n<em>Head of the Americas<\/em><br \/>\n<span>MoneyGram International<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>William A.
